Fort Recovery: The High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct the 1971 OSHAA Men’s Basketball Class A State Championship team. The induction will take place between the JV and varsity boys basketball games against Fort Loramie scheduled for Saturday January 22. The 1971 Indians will join the previous 45 people who have been selected since the Hall of Fame was established in 2007 in honor of long-time Indian fan David Neff. The 1971 Indians were coached by Allen Souder. They finished their regular season with an 18-2 record. They won the Mercer County League, unbeaten in the league. Their overall record ended at 26-2.

Vanwert: The Elam Ending for the fifth and sixth grade boys’ and girls’ teams will take place on February 19 and 20 at Van Wert High School/College. Teams are guaranteed three games and prizes go to the first two. Individual medals will be awarded to any player who achieves an Elam Ending Shot. They will also be photographed and entered into the Elam Enders Hall of Fame. The registration fee is $150. Visit for more information.

Township of Bath: A Fifth and Sixth Year Boys Tournament will take place on March 26 and 27 at Bath Secondary School. School teams only. The cost is $150 per team with a three game guarantee. Lima: The Jumbo’s Card show will include 200 tables and will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 22 at the Lima Civic Center.

Ohio State football autograph signings will be available from Rodney Hickman, Tyleik Williams, Teradja Mitchell, Steele Chambers and Miyan Williams. Admission will be free.


Lima: The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., has league and doubles openings. Open doubles start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Leagues of corn holes form. Vanwert: Paul Keels, the detailed voice of Ohio State football and men’s basketball on the Buckeyes Radio Network for the past 24 years, will speak at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10.

Tickets, which cost between $19 and $29, will go on sale to the public on January 21.


Lima: Pickleball is played at the Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA hosts pickleball games open from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (by appointment only). Lima: WAR Wrestling returns Saturday, February 19 to the Empowered Sports Center (formerly Northland Lanes) at 1730 N. Union St. Advance tickets are $18 for VIP, general admission for $12 or four for $40 and bleachers for $7. At the door, tickets will be $18 for VIP and $12 for general admission and bleachers. VIP doors open at 5:30 p.m., general doors open at 6:30 p.m. and wrestling is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tickets available online at or at Groamy’s, 1206 W. Lima: A free middle school tennis team program sponsored and funded by the Lima Area Tennis Association and the United States Tennis Association/Northwestern Ohio Tennis Association for ages 12-14 will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. Jan. 29-30 at Westwood. Lima: The Lima Family YMCA will be hosting classes for kids (in addition to basketball leagues) including Shoot & Scoop (basketball skills for ages 3-5 on Friday nights), youth karate, gymnastics, the Lego league and swimming lessons. Classes for adults include Karate, swimming lessons, water aerobics, aquatic arthritis, chair exercise classes, yoga (chair and regular), HIIT, BodyPump, Yoga Pilates Flow, Core workout CX, Combat, Zumba, Cardio and Tone and cycling classes. Members get free land fitness classes and a discount on other classes. Non-members are welcome to join classes for a per-class payment or session fee.
